Question: How did you get your start in the automotive business?
Answer: My uncle and dad owned an auto repair business when I was growing up. I started out going to work with Dad every Saturday.
Q: Is there a particular type of job you enjoy performing above the rest?
A: I enjoy installing auto accessories to improve the appearance of customers’ vehicles. I like when a customer feels good about the way their car looks. They take pride in the appearance of the car and I enjoy helping them get there!
Q: What kind of qualities do Sun Devil Auto technicians need to succeed?
A: Training to understand the complexities of vehicles, experience to understand how things “used to be” and how they are now, and quality service to care for each vehicle as if it were their own. Those are the qualities that help our technicians succeed!
Q: How does one ensure that his team is always prepared for any kind of auto problem?
A: ASE certification, rigorous training classes, tests, and required recertification every few years.
Q: For you personally, what’s the most enjoyable part of working for SDA?
A: I really enjoy the people I work with. We’re all here with one common goal: Keeping our customers’ cars on the road!
Q: You’ve been in this line of work for over three decades. What’s one myth about the auto repair you can dismiss for us?
A: These days, technicians are trained, intelligent people who are captivated by the intricacies that make up a vehicle. Gone are the days of the “grease monkey”. Technicians are truly invested in vehicle repair and maintenance, and bring a wealth of knowledge to the table.
Q: Any last tips for Arizona drivers?
A: Listen and heed any advice or recommendations given by your service professional as you would your own doctor.
