When you live in or around Phoenix, there is plenty to do. You can pack the whole family or some of your closest friends in a car and head over to one of the numerous attractions in the area. An excellent spot to visit at some point is Saguaro Lake, which is located only 40 miles away from Phoenix, close to the East Valley.
Fun Activities to Do
What do you like to do on your day off? Plenty of activities can be done on or around the lake, including:

- Powerboating
- Jet Skiing
- Water-skiing
- Fishing
- Kayaking
If you have one, you can definitely bring your own boat out to the lake if you want. Boat rentals are available, or you can take a tour of the lake on the Desert Belle. You can also purchase fishing supplies at the store nearby, and full boat maintenance services are offered as well. Jet Ski rentals are not available, but you can bring your own on the lake.
When Is the Lake Open?
The lake is open all year round, so you can stop by anytime in order to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It tends to be hottest during the summer when temperatures can sometimes get into the low 100s. During the spring and fall, temperatures tend to hover around the 70s and 80s.
Nearby Food
While many people enjoy packing some lunches and snacks to enjoy throughout the day, you can also head over to the Lakeshore Restaurant, located near the lake. Some tasty meals can be purchased, and there are outdoor dining options so that you can look over the lake as well as the Bulldog Cliffs and the Goldfield Mountains. They are open every day of the week, so consider making them your go-to place during your visit.
Extra Tips
When the weather is really nice, keep in mind that the lake tends to get crowded quickly. Therefore, it would be wise to head over early in the morning so that you can get a sweet spot by the water. Do not forget to wear plenty of sunscreen, especially if you are going to be there all day, and pack hats and sunglasses, too.
Going to the lake is a great way to spend the day, and your family or friends will be thankful you brought them out as well. This will be one road trip you will not soon forget.
