Tempe, Arizona ~ On Saturday December 13 local automotive repair & preventative maintenance company Sun Devil Auto will deliver fifteen bicycles and more than three dozen toys for needy valley children to the Arizona US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.
Over the past few weeks Deb Hughes, Sun Devil Auto Toys for Tots Team Leader, has been rallying employees and vendors to donate money, gifts & toys for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. When asked why she got involved with Toys for Tots, Ms. Hughes replied, “Because this is what Christmas is all about. Every child should wake up on Christmas morning to the surprise that Santa did visit and he brought them something special ~ just for them!”
Throughout the year families ~ churches make a list. They ask for certain things that their children need (and want). The US Marine Corps Reserve collects all kinds of toys and delivers them to these churches before the Christmas holiday. Sun Devil Auto was proud to be part of this effort and has been and will continue to be a supporter of various children’s charities throughout the year.
Over the 58 years of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 332.5 million toys to 158.7 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made U.S. Marines the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children at Christmas. Over its 14 year life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has supplemented local toy collections with more than 55.5 million toys valued at more than $284 million; plus has provided promotion and support materials valued at over $3.2 million.

About the Center:
Since 1981, The Child Crisis Center has been committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Founded by the Mahnah Club of Mesa, a local service group, the Center opened with 7 shelter beds and an annual budget of $60,000. In the past 24 years they have helped to shelter 11,000 children from all over Maricopa County. With 40 beds and a 4 million dollar annual budget, the programs and services provided in the areas of Emergency Shelter, counseling and prevention have grown in response to the needs of the community.
Grassroots community involvement has always been the cornerstone of the success of the Center. Still today, the Child Crisis Center relies on the generosity of individuals and local corporations to provide the funds necessary to operate. They are grateful for the continued support of the community as they continue to help Arizona’s families prevent child abuse and neglect.
